online gamesЕто още един интересен начин за търсене на специалисти, чрез използване на онлайн игрите. Там хората показват в реална среда своите лични качества, както и как биха се справили в напрегната ситуация. Статията написах на (надявам се приличен) английски.

Many HR people every day search better ways for recruitment of managers and professionals. There are so many HR conferences, briefings and meetings but still no answer. I don’t know any company which doesn’t pay a lot of money to head hunters just to find one person. These companies didn’t get enough guarantees that this person would stay and work efficiently in the company enough time. So the company looses anyways!

Lets see the most widespread practice in head hunting business in very short list of steps:
1. We need an employee who we couldn’t find alone;
2. We hire a Head hunting agency
3. The agency gives us a short list of candidates
4. We choose our new employee who resumes our needs or the search continues back to point 1.

But the most important questions is what is the main source of candidates for these recruitment agencies? Easy :) They have huge database of working people and they are hoping to convince some of them to change their job or to recommend a friend who will have more interest in this offer.
The company still looses because the our new employee become a part in candidate database of the agency and maybe in year or two he will be reached by the same agency with another proposal.

Lets return to the main case. Even if the agency tells us that the candidates are suitable, we could not be sure. That is because we don’t know his past outside the business life and most important – we don’t know his reactions in different situations. This kind of information could give us only a private eye.

So my conclusion is to convert the recruiters into detectives!

The change began with the idea of using blogs as character description of candidates. But that’s not enough!
We want to see this person in real action. We want to feel his passion at work. But we can’t visit his work place or to see him at party with friends.

At this moment come the solution for monitoring of the online games, especially browser games.

This kind of games are played by people all over the world. The most important thing is that these people don’t play individually. The form unions which have leaders, generals, diplomats etc. People who develop faster win the opportunity to take the leading places in a union. In the real life it is the same!
The players work together to reach higher place in the Union rating.
The help each other during the time of war with other players.

What are my observations?
1. The Leaders make the most difficult decisions. They provide the future of the union and make the rules in it;
2. The Diplomats are very good in negotiations – they speak with other diplomats and make contracts with other unions. They are capable event to turn around the enemy armies with proper words and commercial proposals.
3. The Generals are most effective in moments of crisis because they build the war strategy – they are not afraid of the new situations, make fast decisions and organize the other players to win the war.
4. The most economically advanced players are good in logical thinking and sales – they decide which buildings to build and when to do that, how many resources they need to build very strong army to defend themselves. They sale resources and form a real free market in the game.

All these people show their qualities all the time and it’s easy to reach them. because the game is global, but the separate servers are local. So it’s very easy to meet people from your country and to see them in action. No agency couldn’t provide you information or enormous database with candidates with speciffic qualities like these right now. Also how many people share their game passion on job interview?! :)

So lets pretend that the game is the business jungle, the unions are the companies and the player are the managers and other employees.
The most important thing is that the player not only sale, build cities and win wars, they have goals, they know hot to reach them and they communicate all the time.

I see you got my point.
That’s why I would like to invite managers, HR people to join a browser game and try to search for promising professionals.
